CREA IL TUO VIAGGIOBHUTAN- Chomolari Trekking from Drukgyel Dzong to Dodina
Bhutan is an extraordinary place located in the center of the imposing Himalaya mountain range. It has lived for centuries in a sort of voluntary isolation, far from the rest of the world. Visiting Bhutan means immersing yourself in its uncontaminated nature, getting in touch with its extremely hospitable population, but also taking a trip to a mythical dimension full of legends and religiosity. The trekking offers spectacular views of the Chomolari( 7314 m high), climbing up to 4930 m (maximum altitude) through remote villages such as Lingzhi and with a good chance of seeing the yaks.

Flight to Paro with Druk air. The flight is spectacular, offering beautiful views of the mountains and the area.
Upon arrival, bureaucratic formalities, transfer to the hotel, free afternoon to visit the Dzong, partly fortress, partly castle.
Visit to Takshang Gompa monastery, the most famous of the Bhutanese monasteries. It can be reached with a trek of a couple of hours between pine forests and small villages. The monastery stands on the edge of a cliff 900 meters above the valley floor. The name of the monastery means "den of the tiger" and refers to the legend according to which in the 7th century the saint Padmasambhava flew here on the back of a tiger. The site is recognized as a sacred site and is a destination for pilgrims from all over Bhutan. At the end of the visit return to the hotel.
Trek Drugyel Dzong - Sharna Zampa (5-6 hours) ascent 360 m, descent 80 m. Transfer to Drugyel Dzong (2580 m), the starting point of the trek. The itinerary passes through small villages between terraces planted with rice and millet, along the edges of the Paro Chhu river, climbing slightly towards an area of apple orchards and blue pine and fir forests. The trek ends in Sharna Zampa.
Trek Sharna Zampa - Thangthangka (7-8 hours) ascent 770 m, descent 10 m. The route continues along Paru Chhu, between conifers and rhododendrons, crossing wooden bridges. Entering the Jigme Dorji national park, the trek gradually climbs up a stony path to Thangthangka where the Jhomolhari appears at the head of the valley on which the field rests.
Trek Thangthangka - Jangothang (5-6 hours) ascent 480 m. The path slowly climbs to a military post. Following the course of Paru Chhu in the middle of the larch forest, you reach Jangothang at 4500 meters, from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Jhomolhari.
Acclimatization and exploration in Jangothang. A day of rest in Jangothang constitutes a part of sure interest of the trekking. The panorama is extremely beautiful and evocative with many excursions trails in the surrounding area.
Trek Jangothang - Lingzhi (6-7 hours) ascent 840 m - descent 870 m. Cross a log bridge at 4160 m to go to the left bank of Paro Chhu and reach a valley that offers a breathtaking view of the Chomolari, Jichu Drake and Tshrim Khang. At 4470 meters, the path continues entering a glacial valley with the presence of numerous moraines. Here, the vegetation is nothing but an expanse of grass, tundra and modest juniper bushes. The maximum point of ascent corresponds to Nyile La (4870 meters) where the panorama is breathtaking. Once you have crossed the pass, the downhill path begins on an often stony path, reaching again the vegetation with patches of rhododendrons and birches and yak pastures. Lingzhi, where the field is located at 4100 meters above sea level.
Trek Ligzhi - Shodu (7-8 hours) ascent 940 m - descent 920 m. This is the most demanding day of the whole trek. We leave early in the morning for a fairly steep climb to the Yeli La pass (4930 meters). The rest of the downhill route crosses two lakes walking along the banks between sheep pastures and tree vegetation.
Trek Shodu - Barshong (5-6 hours) ascent 250 m - 670 m. The route follows the bank of the Thimchu river. Barshong Dzong field is located at 3500 meters.
Trek Barshong - Dodina (7-8 hours) End of the trek. The path passes through a bamboo forest. At the end of the trek a means of transport will take you to Thimpu (about 2 hrs) for dinner and overnight stay.
Transfer to Paros. Visit the ruins of the fortress of Drugyel. The fort was used to defend the valley from Tibetan invasions at the beginning of the 17th century, from the fort you can admire Monte Chomolari 7320 m. Visit of the national museum which in its 7 floors, contains aspects of Buthanese culture and history starting from the 7th century. Short walk to the Rinpung Dzong administrative center and monk school. Short walk to return to Paro visit of the local markets, return to the Kichu Resort. Hotel accommodation.
Transfer to the airport for the return flight to Kathmandu. Hotel accommodation. Cultural dinner.
Transfer to the airport for return flight to Italy.

Given the particular nature of our travel proposals, the daily programs should be considered as a guide track.
