Gharwal is perhaps one of the most sacred and mystical destinations in northern India; a fascinating area from a naturalistic point of view with pastures, forests and the majestic peaks of Shivling and Nanda Devi. Area particularly sacred to Hindus, it is also the place where the sacred Ganges is born. Here the countless pilgrims who come from all over India and the world come to pray at the sacred springs, so it is full of life, humanity and mysticism.
Departure from Italy with scheduled flight to Delhi.
Arrival at the airport and meeting with our correspondent. Transfer to the Crown Plaza hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel with accommodation in a double room with breakfast.
After breakfast, visit Old and New Delhi; Jama, one of the largest mosques in the world, the Red Fort, a red sandstone building which is home of the Mughal emperor dynasty, the Gandhi Museum and the Government Palace. In the afternoon, visit the Qutab al-Minar minaret and the Humayun Tomb; a complex of buildings built in Mughal architectural style, inside which there is the tomb of Emperor Humayun. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, transfer to Delhi train station. Journey on the "Shatabadi Express" to Haridwar. Upon arrival in Haridwar, transfer by private vehicle to Rishikesh; a city surrounded by beautiful hills and crossed by the sacred Ganges. Rishikesh is famous for the many ashrams present here and in particular for those where yoga is taught. In the evening, visit the Triveni Ghat to attend a very suggestive ceremony. Overnight stay at the hotel with accommodation in a double room with full board.
After breakfast, transfer to Uttarkashi (about 6-7 hours). The road soon leaves the windy plain towards the ancient capital of Garhwal, at the foot of the Himalayan mountains, called Tehri. From here you follow the river, which in this stretch is called Bhagirathi, through the countryside interspersed with typical Garhwali villages. Overnight stay at the hotelwith accommodation in a double room with half board.
From Uttarkashi the road climbs up to Gangotri (3140 m); a complex of houses and ashrams built around the ancient temple that celebrates the descent to earth of the goddess Ganga. Overnight stay in the lodge, B & amp; B.
From Gangotri begins the trek to the springs of the Ganges . On the way there are numerous pilgrims; men and women of all ages and social classes. Follow the path for 4 hours in the direction of Chirbassa. Overnight stay at the camp.
Departure for Bhujbassa. The panoramic and wide path climbs with a regular slope between conifers and Cedars Deodora. As you rise in altitude, this vegetation gives way to birches and almost to the height of the glaciers, to flowering meadows. Overnight stay at the camp.
We leave for Gaumukh ...."The mouth of the cow". This route is frequented by Hindu pilgrims and sadhus whose ashrams are scattered around the glacier and the source of the sacred river. At the bottom of the valley appear the mountains of the Bhagirathi massif (6856 m, 6512 m, 6454 m). After the springs, the path becomes less marked and zigzags up the moraine on the right side of the Gangotri glacier, finally reaching the Tapovan plateau. Overnight stay at the camp.
Free day to discover Tapovan (4463m) located in a plateau between peaks and ice, certainly a place of incredible beauty. At the center of the plain, next to a pond, among the erratic boulders, there are some stone ashrams inhabited by the sadhus. Overnight stayat the camp
After breakfast, take the path that leads to Nandan Van where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Bhagirathi mountain group, which can be reached by crossing the Gangotri glacier. Overnight stay at the camp.
After breakfast the trek back to Bhujbassa begins. Overnight stay at the camp.
Overnight stay in Guest House with accommodation in double full board room.
After breakfast transfer to Uttarkashi. Along the road that always runs alongside the river, you pass next to the sulphurous springs of Gangnani. Overnight stay at the hotel with accommodation in a double room, half board.
After breakfast transfer to Haridwar. In the evening at the Har ki Pauri ghat, considered the exact place where the Ganges enters the plains and where it forms a sort of swimming pool known as Brahmakund.You will attend one of the oldest and most extraordinary prayer ceremonies in India. Overnight stay at the hotel with accommodation in a double room. Bed and breakfast.
After breakfast transfer to the train station. Shatabadi Express train to Delhi. Arrival in Dehli and transfer to the hotel. Bed and breakfast.
Transfer to the airport depending on the time and boarding the flight to Italy.
