Meru Mount 2020
Trekking on Meru Mount , with its altitude of 4556 meters. It is the “younger brother” of Kilimanjaro, it is only 70 km higher than Africa’s volcanic massif.

Arrival and accommodation at Mountain Inn. Meeting for the pre trekking briefing.
Transfer by car for about 3 hours to Momella gate (1650 m), and start of the trek through the forests.

Short but intense climb to the crater.
(trekking: 3-4 hours, about 6.5 km)
Beginning of the climb to the top of the mountain around midnight, first step Rhino Point (3800 m), passed the second Cobra point to finish reaching the socialist Peak (4566 m). With a little luck, it will be possible to admire Kilimanjaro above the clouds, finally descent to Saddle hut. (trekking: 12-13 hours, about 18 km)
Return to Momella gate and transfer to Moshi.
(trekking: 4-5 hours, around 14 km)
Breakfast and transfer to the airport or possibility to continue with the trekking of Kilimanjaro.

The tent accommodations do not provide the possibility of having single accommodation.
Antimalaria prophylaxis is recommended.

Entry formalities
For Italian citizens, a passport is required, valid for more than 6 months from the date of entry into the country with at least 2 free pages. A visa is required and can be requested before leaving Italy at the Embassy of Tanzania in Rome or at the Consulate of Tanzania in Milan or arriving in the country at the three international Tanzanian airports (Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar) upon payment of USD 50.

Reference exchange rates for currencies
Currency: US dollar (USD) – Exchange rate: 1.12
Changes in exchange rates with fluctuations greater than 3% will lead to an adjustment in costs and will be communicated within 20 days of departure.
