Piedmont – Trekking among the Walser populations
Five days of walking in the paradise of trekking. You go along one of the most majestic trekking routes in the Western Alps between Val Formazza and Devero. Following the history of the Walser and the aromas of the Bettelmatt cheese, you will have the opportunity to discover the high passes of Gries and San Giacomo, the boundless plateau overlooking the Alpe Devero, the pastures of production of the most noble cheese and the perched enclave of Salecchio, magical village of Walser origin. Trekking for good walkers.
“My name is Paolo Borra and I am excited about outdoor life. I became an Environmental walking Guide to transmit this passion and I have been offering excursions for years to those who choose to be guided by me in nature. My base is the Val d ‘Ossola, between the Maggiore and Orta lakes and the Himalayan walls of Monte Rosa. In this area although coming from a plain city, I have become more and more rooted, so much so that it has now become my second home. I have a particular preference for large crossings, for ring excursions, for tents and bivouacs in the open air. I like to travel and discover new territories on foot. These are some of the trekking that I usually guide: Tour Mont Blanc, Tour Monte Rosa, Tour del Monviso, Valgrande, Via del Sale, Via degli Dei, Crossing the Elbe, Sardinian Supramonte, Cammino dei Briganti, Amalfi Coast, Vercors, GR20 Corsica . I have been teaching training courses for walking guides for the Piedmont region for eight years and I am a guide to the protected areas of Ossola. Safety is a fundamental principle for me and I try to respect it during all the excursions I organize. This does not mean that a pinch of adventure can be part of our outdoor days; I think it’s part of life and that it serves to get to know each other better. I have experience of trekking and mountaineering expeditions all organized and conducted independently in: Patagonia, Alaska, Canada, Norway, Iceland, Greenland and Mongolia.”
