Trekking in Emilia Romagna: walking through the Trebbia Valley
Trebbia Valley: In what H. Hemingawy (yes precisely the one who wrote “the old man and the sea”) defined the most beautiful valley in the world, we propose three days of trekking to discover the panoramic corners and the characteristic and hidden villages. Three days of easy trekking on paths that can be traveled almost all year round, set between medieval churches and emerald green rivers
Minimum 2 participants
Meeting with the guide in the early afternoon.
We will start the first day with the paths that wind through the lower valley (Pietra Parcellara area). Defined the matterhorn of Piacenza as the "mother stone" it hides secrets that over the centuries have fascinated commoners and sorcerers, commanders and travelers; we will follow in the footsteps of partisans and end our first day with a dip in medieval history with a free visit to the town of Bobbio recently defined as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy (total distance 13.5 km disl. tot. 600 meters ., duration 4 ½ h, highest point 836 m, hiking trail).
We will travel along the high ridges of the valley to Mount Lesima (characterized by the "bowl" of the radio beacon. Legend traces the toponym Lesima to Hannibal who, climbing to the top to get a better view of the area, injured a hand from which " lesa manus ".
The path starts on the asphalt near Passo La Colla (about 45 minutes by car from Bobbio), from here we will then move towards Tartago, another Punic reference and, passing to the left of the radar, we will climb a short ridge towards the top of Lesima to then make a "turnaround" and return to the cars. (total distance 12 km, total disl. 715 mt., duration 5 h excluding stops, highest point mte. Lesima 1724 mt, hiking trail)
We will go to the discovery of one of the Piacenza valleys defined as "secondary", the Aveto valley.
Among the Piacenza valleys, the one engraved by the Aveto torrent stands out for its typically mountainous characteristics, extensive woods and abundant waters with peaks constantly over 1600 meters (Penna, Maggiorasca, Groppo rosso).
Near the confluence Aveto-Trebbia to guard this little corner of paradise, we find the village of Cerignale, our starting point for this circular trek. Just below the village, located on a natural terrace and full of beautiful restored stone houses, we find the buttresses of Monte Cerello and the "meanders of Confiente". We will have a packed lunch in the area of M. delle Tane and then return to our homes; on the way back we will stop at a local winery to taste Piacenza wines (known and renowned since the time of the divine Caio Giulio Cesare) and today back in vogue after a period of relative oblivion.
The excursion without exposed or dangerous sections becomes very demanding if done in winter, where the snow makes it particularly difficult (total distance 15 km, total height 850 meters, duration 5 h net of stops, high monte delle Tane 1175 mt, hiking trail).
