Trekking to discover Northern Cyprus
Seven days to discover this fascinating country! This itinerary allows you to admire the ancient charm of its perched castles, discover Kyrenia with its Venetian influence that offers picturesque views between the imposing walls and the fairy-tale harbor, immerse yourself in the indelible history of the Coptic monastery of Sinai to live the experience of its true and intense nature through pleasant walks along the paths.

Departure from Italy for flight to Ercan. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel in Kyrenia for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast meeting with the guide and in the morning dedicated to the exploration of the local nature through a walk in the hotel garden and around the area.
In the afternoon walk to the Port of Girne or the Castle of Girne. The ancient city of Kyrenia (Girne) nicknamed the "Portofino" of the island because of the small Venetian port, is surrounded by majestic walls. Opportunity to visit the imposing Fortress built in the 13th century, now home to the Shipwreck Museum with various underwater archeology finds. Afterward, you will have free time to visit the port and have a refreshing drink before dinner.
Return to the hotel for dinner.
Day dedicated to trekking in the surroundings of the Geçitköy Dam which connects the island with Turkey (Anamur) through an 80 km long underwater pipeline for the supply of water from Southern Turkey to Northern Cyprus. The 3 major cities of Northern Cyprus that are supplied with water are Famagusta, Nicosia, and Kyrenia, but the project will also extend to the Mesaoria plain. The problems related to the availability of water for Northern Cyprus are estimated to die out for the next 50 years. As we walk around the dam, you will notice different species of orchids and wildflowers. If you are lucky, you will also be able to see wild animals such as foxes and bird varieties.

To see water basins, pine forests, flocks of goats, wildflowers and orchids (in spring), birds, and wild animals.
Today you will head west through one of the most fertile agricultural regions of Cyprus. From the village of Kalkanli, you will stroll through the pretty countryside with several centuries-old olive trees with more than 850 years of life. In spring you will have the opportunity to see different species of orchids and wildflowers along the way. Your walk will continue and you will go down to the coast where you will end up on the sea (depending on the season - opportunity to swim). After our walk, you will travel a short drive to the interesting archaeological site of the Royal Tombs of the Bronze Age of Akdeniz (visit included). They were used by the ancient Greeks between 750 and 500 BC. during an excavation operation conducted by a group of Swedish archaeologists, around 2,000 human-sized statues and artifacts were found, most of which can be seen in the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia.

Starting from the hotel, you will walk towards the village of Lapta. After a long walk in the forest, you will reach the ruins of the Coptic Monastery of Sinai. The complex was built in the Byzantine era and remained active until 1950. In 1953 the Greeks used this monastery as a place to defend themselves from British soldiers and soon it began to fall into disrepair. During this simple walk through the forest and in open ground, you will enjoy beautiful natural scenery with March orchids. You will end the tour in a small mountain village.

Starting from the hotel you will walk through the village of Ilgaz and climb 400 m in the forest above the villages of this area. During the easy walk through the pine forest, for the most part, forest paths you will pass through the ancient Greek agricultural areas and you will see a lot of wildflowers (only in spring). Great panoramic views are assured over the coastal region of Lapta. You will collect wild sage and thyme as we walk. Your walk will end in the vineyards with the splendid cellar of the pretty village of Ilgaz located on a hill. Here you will have the opportunity to rest and taste some local wine (extra cost) before returning by bus and returning to the hotel.
