Tuscany trekking in the footsteps of Piero della Francesca 2021
At the foot of the green hills of Tuscan Apennines surround Sansepolcro, the birthplace of Piero Della Francesca, we find these views often immortalized in the background of his works. The areas of naturalistic value in the surroundings are ideal for trekking within everyone’s reach, including the Parco dei Monti Rognosi and the Alpe della Luna Nature Reserve up to the enchanting trek close to Monterchi, a Tuscan village perched on a hill, famous in the world to preserve the Madonna del Parto by Piero della Francesca.

Independent arrival in the early afternoon in Sansepolcro, hotel accommodation with breakfast.
Nearby you can independently visit Citerna, the gateway to Umbria, Anghiari, Pieve and Castello di Romana.
Breakfast and full day dedicated to trekking, customers can choose from one of the following excursions:
1. ring in the Rognosi Mountains. It is an area with ophiolithic rocks with a very particular landscape where you can understand the effusive and eruptive phenomena. Length from 7 to 11 km altitude difference 700mt
2. ring from the village of Monterchi (where the Madonna del Parto by Piero della Francesca is kept, which can be visited at the end of the excursion independently). You walk in the bucolic countryside on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, within the landscape that inspired the artist, passing through the typical farms and medieval villages. Length 11 km, height difference 460 meters
Breakfast and check-out, independent transfer to the spot and meeting with the guide for a half-day excursion to be chosen from the following two proposals
1. ring in the Tiber floodplains. It is a plain area crossed by the Tiber river that still maintains the characteristics of a naturalist with riparian woods, floodplains, lakes. You walk along the river and through the countryside. Length 7 km no difference in height
2. ring in the Alpe della Luna starting from the Fattoria di Germagnano. You cross the forest and admire the views over the Valtiberina and the mountain ranges that surround it. Length 9 km, altitude difference 580 meters
